Fire Safe India Foundation is a not-for-profit advocacy group working to make India free from fire hazards. We aim to establish a fire-safety culture that is based on individual care, knowledge of techniques and available technologies for prevention and control of fire incidents. Ours is an organization built on the foundations of passion, expansive knowledge of fire prevention methods and technologies and vast experience in the field.
Shri M. V. Deshmukh began his career as a Fire Officer in 1979 and has served society in different areas. A significant period - 19 years of his tenure was in industrial belts where chemical, petrochemical and other industries that worked with hazardous material were situated. In the course of that period he was assigned the post of Chief Fire Officer & Fire Advisor by M.I.D.C. where he served as Head of Department for over 17 years, An authority on innovation and the latest techniques in fire safety
Being of a scholarly disposition, Shri Deshmukh continues to expand his knowledge base and earn academic distinctions. His career milestones include a Gold Medal from the National Fire Academy and Fellowship of IFE (UK). He also has an MBA from the University of Mumbai, a Masters in Information technology and is now pursuing Doctorate in Disaster Management from the University of Mumbai.
The Government of Maharashtra honoured him in 2002 by appointing him as Fire Advisor to the state Govt. In 2005 he assumed the charge of Director-Maharashtra Fire Services, Govt. of Maharashtra. Post retirement in 2016, he engaged himself full-time in leading Mission - Fire Safe Maharashtra.
